The UCI World Tour teams are busy unveiling their new kits for 2019. Team Sunweb has a radical new red look and here are some of the other early birds. Remember, it’s a challenge looking good in lycra when you’re off the bike… Say no more.

It’s new, it’s radical and it’s red! The new Team Sunweb outfit has kept the two-stripe design, part of the team’s ‘Keep Challenging’ DNA, but has adopted a predominantly red look for 2019. This runs against the trend of most teams, who have reduced the amount of red in their kit. Team Sunweb has a new technical clothing sponsor: Craft. Craft is a big name in the clothing industry and the team’s new apparel partner will manufacture their state-of-the-art race kit using the latest technologies. Watch out for Tom Dumoulin, Michael Matthews, Sam Oomen and the rest of the team: they’re ready in red!

The colours are the same as last year, but some asymmetric lines have been added. According to the folks at Vincenzo Nibali‘s team, the lines represent shared goals which all the stakeholders in the team have. Automotive fans will note the new sponsor for 2019: McLaren. It is not yet known if their cars will be in the peloton. Sadly, we think it unlikely.

Katusha Alpecin

More ‘baby blue’ and less red than in 2018, making that Alpecin logo pop in 2019. We haven’t seen the back of the shirts yet, so we’re not sure how to spot Marcel Kittel and the rest of the guys from the helicopter.

Below you can find Thomas de Gendt chilling out in the new 2019 jersey for this Belgian team. More white, and a lot less red than in the past. That makes the sponsors logos pop out and gives, says Thomas, “a fresher look”.

Team Sky

Big thumbs up from Wout Poels as Sky goes back to black in 2019, with a bit of dark blue around the shoulders. Most cyclists will recognise the red Castelli scorpion logo. Get it while you can, as this is the last-ever Sky outfit to grace the peloton.

Dutch rouleur and super-domestique Koen de Kort shows off the 2019 Trek Segafredo line. Following this year’s big trend: less red and more of the other colours. The white panel gives the sponsors ample attention.

British cycling legend Lizzie Deignan wears the 2019 Trek Segafredo line. Blue tones for the ladies this year: “Trek and Santini have done a great job designing something that is both functional and stylish,” she says.

AG2R La Mondiale

Spot the difference, with Romain Bardet: we can’t. This is the 2019 look for AG2R: the kit they love to hate. We can’t see any changes, but there may be some we’ve missed. But you have to give them points for consistency! Fun fact: this design was created by Dutch branding agency Studio Dumbar in 2009.
