Yes, you read that correctly. In this revealing short film, major professional cycling talent Søren Kragh Andersen reveals one of his private pastimes: freshwater fishing. The Danish-born rider also explains some of the dilemmas young sportspeople face: “you become a professional almost before you are ready to take care of your own life.”

Earlier this month, Kragh Andersen extended his contract with Team Sunweb until end-2022. “Team Sunweb and I are a good match—they really believe in me and I think this is a good place for me to develop in the future,” he said. The team’s coach Marc Reef added: “Søren has been with us for three full years. From the start it turned out to be a great fit with Søren, not only as a rider but as a person as well. He is a big team player with a range of qualities both on and off the bike.”

This film also illustrates that he can catch fish. But not as well as his grandma could. He says: “Fishing gives me time to do nothing. It is also a test of patience sometimes, which is good for me.”
