Do you secretly dream of ticking at least one of the world’s greatest cycling routes off your bucket list? Or maybe your bucket list only consists of adventure rides such as the Transcontinental? Either way, and even if you are only fantasising about a local challenge or a Gran Fondo in the Italian Alps, this poster is too beautiful to ignore.
Australian artist Alex Hotchkin is obsessed with cycling routes. Ever since her first-ever bike tour, she’s been finding ways to express her love for cycling adventures on paper. Not only has she created a world map of adventurous cycling routes, she recently published a Bikepacking version called A Guide to Bikepacking the World.
Ultimate form of freedom
The beautifully-drawn map is available on Alex’s own website. This is a real work of art and (while stocks last) can be ordered in either A3 or A2 formats. Alex briefly explains her motivation: she thinks that “seeing the world on two wheels is the ultimate form of freedom”. We cannot disagree.
As you cast you eyes over this rich and exciting adventure cycling bucket list in cartographic form, you can’t help but become inspired by the idea of packing up a sturdy machine and riding off into the distance. If you are lucky enough to become the owner of one of these amazing maps, we recommend you hang it above your bed: there’s plenty of inspiration here for wonderful dreams…
