Since the withdrawal of major sponsors Garmin and Cannondale, the EF Education First Pro Team has become an even more conspicuous team. Although this team has one of the smallest budgets in the World Tour the guys nevertheless warm the hearts and minds of bicycle racing fans on regular occasions. Not least because you can easily recognise them in their brightly coloured (shocking pink) kit.

Rapha back in the (men’s) peloton

This isn’t the first time popular cycling apparel brand Rapha has been in the professional peloton. The company has had numerous partnerships since 2000. Perhaps the most well-known partnership up until now was its clothing sponsorship of Team Sky (between 2013 and 2016). Castelli took over as Team Sky’s clothing sponsor, but this didn’t mean Rapha left the world of cycling, by any means.

Rapha has partnerships with a number of individual athletes, as well as being a clothing sponsor for the Canyon/ Sram women’s team. And this year, the company sponsors EF Education First Pro Team.

Unique image, unique colour

As befits Rapha, time has been spent on the new kit’s design. A number of clear choices were made when selecting colour combinations for the team. The day-glo pink and blue outfit aims to be well-recognisable for the team’s fans. Job done, we say.

In addition, both Rapha and the EF Education First Pro team already make quite a lot of use of the colour pink. That’s already pretty exceptional. It also means that the riders in Jonathan Vaughters’ latest team will stand out in even the most chaotic situations during the races.

The kit has been inspired by the team’s free spirit and the riders’ individuality. And they’re all very positive about their new gear. “For sure dude, no one looks as cool as we do,” said American sprinter Taylor Phinney. “I always wanted to be on a team wearing really cool kit,” he said. His teammate Nate Brown concurs: “I think we have the best kit in the peleton. We’re gonna look really slick!”
